There are a wide range of options available for the treatment of anxiety disorder. The first step can often be to find some relief from the most severe physical symptoms using a combination of medications natural treatments or relaxation techniques.

This first stage can take time and we should be wary of falling into the trap of self-treatment with alcohol, which can lead to a vicious circle of highs and lows. What eases one individual's symptoms may exacerbate those of another; anxiety is an extremely personalized disorder

Upon finding some initial relief you will find yourself better placed to investigate the root cause of your anxiety. This can be achieved through a process of identifying negative thought processes and challenging them. Our emotions are closely tied to our thoughts and by changing the way we think, we can change the way we feel. This process is known as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT.

Others have found that hypnosis has helped them to break free from the cycle of unhelpful thinking patterns. Again, you will find that certain people will respond to one type of therapy whilst others will not find it helpful. There is a lot of conflicting advice out there but it is simply a case of finding out what works best for each individual.

It can take time and a bit of trial and error to find the correct therapy for each individual but I believe that there is always a solution to be found. The worst thing that you can do is to stand still, even the process of searching for a solution can be therapeutic as it can focus the mind away from our problems. It can be thought of as one of many Distraction techniques.
